A knife-wielding man on Saturday stabbed to death at least nine people, including his estranged wife, besides injuring four others in central China, in the latest such attack.
The man, identified only with his surname Wang, struck at around 1 PM local time in Hunan Province's Longshan County and reportedly fled, state-run Xinhua news agency reported.
Local officials said that police are looking for him after he killed his estranged wife and eight others.
Just over a week ago, a samurai sword-wielding man went berserk and attacked people at a famous shopping district here popular with expats, killing a Chinese woman and seriously injuring her French partner. The suspect had surrendered when police rushed to the spot.
The attack had sent shock waves in the city as the photos of the bleeding woman lying on the footpath with grieving Frenchman went viral. In a separate attack last month, a knife-wielding man stabbed one person to death and injured 12 others in Southern China's Shenzhen city.
Knife attacks, reportedly by disgruntled elements, have become common in China in recent years with some of the attackers targeting even small children in the schools to vent their anger.
