LONDON: A day after he was extradited to the UK from India, 39-year-old Maninder Pal Singh Kohli has been charged on Sunday with the murder, kidnap and rape of teenager Hannah foster in March 2003.
Kohli was also charged with manslaughter, false imprisonment and perverting the course of justice.
Kohli, who has persistently protested his innocence, was flow into Heathrow airport from India on Saturday afternoon.
17-year-old Hannah was murdered as she walked home from a night out in Southampton. Her body was found two days later and a post-mortem examination revealed she had been raped and strangled.
Kohli, a delivery driver, was arrested in July, 2004 after Hannah's parents, Trevor and Hilary, went to India to appeal for information.
The Fosters, who are from Southampton in Hampshire, traveled to India three times to try to speed up the extradition process which has involved more than 100 court appearances since 2004.
Kohli will be produced before magistrates in Southampton on Monday.
