Legendary actor Christopher Lee dies at 93

The actor has been part of the some of the biggest film franchises.

Sir Christopher Lee, best known to the current generation for his more recent role as Saruman in the The Lord of the Rings films, has died at the age of 93.

The legendary actor passed away at 8:30 am on Sunday. He had been hospitalised at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital in London for heart failure and respiratory problems, according to The Guardian.

His wife to make the public announcement of his death a few day later to be able to inform close family first.

Lee fought in the World War ll and was a member of Royal Air Force.

His film career began in the late 1940s and Lee shot to fame with the film Dracula Has Risen From The Grave in 1958.

He has been part of the some of the biggest film franchises, playing villain Francisco Scaramanga in the James Bond film The Man with the Golden Gun, Count Dooku in Star Wars films and Saruman in The Lord of the Rings and Hobbit franchise.

Apart from his acting career, Lee was also known for his music, having sung various opera and music pieces. In 2010, he released the metal album Charlemagne: By the Sword and the Cross.

In 2009, Lee was knighted by the Queen.He also received the BAFTA Fellowship in 2011 and 2013.
