An online poll has revealed that London’s Heathrow Airport is seen as the worst airport in the world by air passengers, despite an investment of more than 3 million pounds over the past 10 years.
The survey of 14,500 frequent flyers, who are also members of the airport lounge programme, priority pass, voted Paris’s Charles de Gaulle as the second worst and Los Angeles International as the third.
Passengers also complained of overcrowding, baggage problems, rude staff, and the overall dinginess at Heathrow. “The travellers who took part in this survey took almost 250,000 flights between them over the last year, and that means they know a thing or two about airports. Sadly, Heathrow remains firmly entrenched as the airport the world loves to hate,” The Daily Express quoted Jonathan French, of Priority Pass, as saying.
“It’s a repeat of last year’s result in the same survey when Heathrow was still reeling from the debacle of the T5 opening. It appears that the airport has failed to shrug off its global reputation as the one to avoid,” a statement added. Last year, Heathrow was labelled a “national embarrassment” by the head of the international airport.
