DAYTON, (US): A woman was found guilty of killing her 28-day-old daughter in a microwave oven by a jury here.

China Arnold, who killed the baby by cooking her in the oven after a fight with her boyfriend in August 2005 in August 2005, showed no sign of remorse as the verdict was read yesterday, but was weeping as sheriff's deputies led her out of the courtroom.

She was convicted by the jury of aggravated murder and faces death penalty, reports said. The sentence is likely to be pronounced on Tuesday, the Dayton Daily News reported.

Arnold's daughter, Paris Talley, was pronounced dead on August 30, 2005 at Children's Medical Centre, it said.

Arnold, 28, her four children and her then-boyfriend Terrell Talley lived in a flat of a housing complex in Dayton.

Arnold claimed that someone else had killed the child. But prosecutors said Arnold intentionally put her baby in the microwave oven and cooked the child to death after a fight with her boyfriend.

The baby's DNA was found inside the microwave in Arnold's apartment, prosecutors said.
