The Philippines said one of the symbolic seven billionth babies in the world was born shortly after midnight Sunday in a hospital in Manila, according to a media report Monday.

Philippine Health Secretary Enrique Ona said they will submit the baby girl's name and time of birth to the World Health Organization to see if the baby is indeed the world's seven billionth, reported Xinhua.

The Philippines is the 12th most populous country in the world with 94.9 million people, according to the UN Population Fund (UNFPA)'s State of the World Population Report.

Russia also made a claim that the world's seven billionth baby was born in its Far East city of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky.
