A portion of the Great Wall of China collapsed following incessant rains, authorities said on Thursday.
The repair work was underway on the collapsed section in Hebei province's Zhangjiakou region, China Daily reported.
The Dajingmen section, stretching about 36 metres long, collapsed on Monday due to heavy rains and winds, an official said. Cracks were also spotted on the wall near the site.
The section was built during the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644). It has endured years of erosion, which also contributed to the collapse, experts said.
Recent rains have caused widespread flooding in the country.
