LONDON: Britain’s Prince William has been named the world’s hottest royal, beating brother Harry and cousins Zara Phillips and Princess Beatrice.

The Prince’s “international intrigue and unparalleled media attention” earned him the top spot. The future king of Britain is a press favourite — photogenic with a graceful public persona. His mother’s high-profile life and the drama surrounding the royal family since her death keeps him in the global spotlight.

The eldest son of the late Princess Diana and present heir apparent Prince Charles, toped the list ahead of his younger brother in Forbes.com’s ranking. In the “honour” list compiled by the business magazine, only unmarried royals under the age of 35 were considered and took into account international web and media coverage as well as family wealth.

Prince William and his younger brother have hogged media attention recently for their military service, with Harry secretly fighting in Afghanistan for ten weeks. Prince Harry, who has earned a reputation as the more carefree of the two siblings due to his “un-royal behaviour”, was second on the list of ‘Hottest Young Royals’.

The youngest member on the list is Princess Beatrice of York, in fourth place. At just 19 years old, Princess Beatrice inherited the spotlight from her mother, Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York. Beatrice attracts press for hobnobbing in elite fashion circles and for her reported friendship with paparazzi favourite Kate Moss.

The only non-British royal to make the top five was Charlotte Casiraghi, daughter of Monaco’s Princess Caroline and fourth in line to the Monaco throne.
