A life-size all-wood replica of the Biblical Noah's Ark measuring 510-feet is being built in the US and may be thrown open to visitors in 2016.
The team behind it hopes the ark, being built in a field in Williamstown, Kentucky, will rival Disneyland as a tourist destination and could attract millions of visitors every year. The Ark named Ark Encounter is being built according to dimensions provided in the Bible for the vessel that survived the worldwide flood. It will house three storeys of exhibits, while the fourth floor is planned to be a restaurant.
The Christian ministry called 'Answers in Genesis' building the ark said it "will be the largest timber-frame structure in the world" when it is completed next summer, NBC News reported. "I believe it will be one of the biggest attractions outside of Disney, Universal, people like that - it's going to be one of the biggest attractions in this country," said Ken Ham, president of the Answers in Genesis. "Most people don't really understand the size of the ark, and we're going to answer questions like, how could he fit all the animals on board," said Ham.
Future phases for the attraction include a Walled City, the Tower of Babel, a first-century Middle Eastern village and an expanded large petting zoo, the ministry added.
