Prime minister's special envoy Shyam Saran on Wednesday met the Congressional leaders and officials of the Obama Administration continuing his dialogue with them on issues related to climate change.
Saran, currently on a four-day trip to Washington, met chairman of the powerful Senate Foreign Relations Committee senator John Kerry. Kerry, in the next few weeks, is scheduled to introduce in the Senate a legislation to triple civilian aid to Pakistan.
He met congressman Ed Markey, head of the Select Committee on Energy Independence and Global Warming. Notably, Markey as been a fierce opponent to the civilian nuclear deal, which was inked between the two countries last year.
Saran also met John Holdren, director of the Office of Science and Technology at White House.
The details of all these meetings were immediately not available.
Earlier in the day, Saran delivered a speech at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, a Washington-based think tank.
