Sarkozy and Bruni could move into 'Mick Jagger's building'

Sir Mick has long owned a flat two floors up from the late fashion designer's vast apartment at 55 Rue de Babylone.

Speculation is rife that French president Nicolas Sarkozy and his wife Carla Bruni could soon move into a flat in the same building in Paris, where her old flame Mick Jagger owns an apartment.

In fact the speculation is fuelled by the French First Couple's recent inspection of the flat on the Left Bank of the French capital, that belonged to famous fashion designer Yves Saint Laurent, The Times reported.

Sir Mick has long owned a flat two floors up from the late fashion designer's vast apartment at 55 Rue de Babylone.

The couple have been house-hunting after neighbours in Bruni's town house, Villa Montmorency, where Sarkozy has moved in after their marriage 15 months back, are displeased by the presence of security personnel and government vehicles, the British newspaper said.

The Saint Laurent flat would suit Sarkozy better as it is in an open street in the Paris' 7th district, which is home to Parliament and just across the Seine from his office in the Elysée Palace.

Moreover, the apartment -- a duplex, which is worth well over Euros 10 million -- would also have special appeal to Bruni because she was one of Saint Laurent's most favourite models and a personal friend.

It may be mentioned that Bruni's friendship with Sir Mick dates back to at least 1992. The former Italian model is understood to have begun a lengthy affair with Rolling Stone's frontman while Jerry Hall, his then wife, was pregnant with their third child. Bruni is said to have lured the rock star away on holiday in Thailand the day after the birth.
