LONDON: Actor Sir Sean Connery came close to trying out for English football team Manchester United.
According to contactmusic.com, Connery nurtured dreams of becoming a footballer from an early age and was acting with a travelling play when one of the world's biggest clubs expressed an interest.
Connery says: "I was travelling with the team and in each town we played soccer. We were in Manchester for three months and Man United were interested.
"But, I discussed it with a guy who was in the play who said, 'I thought you might want to be an actor. What happens if you go to soccer and you break a leg or you don't make the team?' That was the moment."
