Singapore’s internet regulator is set to ban the infidelity website AshleyMadison.com, after public protested over the site’s plan to offer a service in the Southeast Asian city-state, it has been revealed

Singapore’s Media Development Authority (MDA) issued a statement saying that they recognize that site blocking is not a perfect way of denying access to prohibited content, as it can be circumvented, Stuff.co.nz reported

MDA added that the Ashley Madison website stands out as it aggressively promotes and facilitates extramarital affairs and has declared that it will specifically target Singaporeans

Tens of thousands of Singaporeans signed petitions urging the government to block access to the site, which claims to have 22 million members in about 30 countries

The Canada-based site was found in 2001, and targets people who are already in a relationship.
