The drones unleashed missiles on a compound used by militants in Mohammad Khel village, some 25 kilometres west of Miranshah, the main town in North Waziristan, officials said.

Ten Taliban militants, including two foreigners were killed in a major strike by US drones overnight in Pakistan's restive north Waziristan.

The drones unleashed missiles on a compound used by
militants in Mohammad Khel village, some 25 kilometres west
of Miranshah, the main town in North Waziristan, officials
said.

"Two US drones fired four missiles, we have reports that ten militants have been killed," a senior security official said in Peshawar.

Intelligence officials were quoted by TV channels  as saying that one of the foreign militants killed was a Filipino, while the identity of the other was being ascertained.

Five women and two children were also wounded in the attack, local officials said.

US stepped up drone strikes on North Waziristan where it suspects that top commanders of al-Qaeda, Taliban and
Haqqani network are holed up.

Washington is also putting pressure on Islamabad to undertake a military campaign in the area which borders Khost province of Afghanistan.

The stepped up attacks by the US unmanned planes has unnerved the Taliban, who yesterday carried out a public
execution of two tribesmen, accusing them of spying for the
American.

Taliban militants strapped explosives on the bodies of two men and blew them up publicly.

"Masked Taliban gunmen strapped explosive devices to the bodies of the two alleged spies and blew them up before a
big crowd," local police officials said.

The Taliban asked residents of two villages to gather at two specified spots in Datta Khel, located 25 km west of Miranshah, the main town in North Waziristan, to witness the execution.
