The Pakistani officials in response have assured Hagel that they would take "immediate action" to resolve the shipment problem, News24 reports. The defence officials said that Hagel showed his concern on losing the majority support in the Capitol Hill on billions of dollars of aid to Pakistan that it now receives from the US.

The statement came after a week the US had to stop the shipments from Torkham Gate through Karachi due to safety concerns following anti-American protests, centered on the CIA's drone programme.
