Kamala Harris thanked the Obamas for their support and expressed gratitude for their decadeslong friendship.

Former US President Barack Obama and his wife Michelle Obama have endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris for the post of US president. The video, which featured a private phone conversation between the couple and the vice president, lasted around one minute.

“Earlier this week, Michelle and I called our friend @KamalaHarris. We told her we think she’ll make a fantastic President of the United States, and that she has our full support. At this critical moment for our country, we’re going to do everything we can to make sure she wins in November. We hope you’ll join us,” Obama posted on X with a video capturing a phone call between the couple and the current vice president.

Michelle Obama, the former First Lady, said, "I’m so proud of my girl, Kamala. Barack and I are so excited to endorse her as the Democratic nominee because of her positivity, sense of humor, and ability to bring light and hope to people all across the country. We’ve got your back."

In the 55-second video, Kamala Harris, 59, is seen moving towards her motorcate while taking a call on speakerphone backstage at an event. When she realises that Michelle and Barack Obama are on the call, she beams with joy.

"Oh, it’s good to hear you both," the US Vice President is heard in the video.

"I can't have this phone call without saying to my girl Kamala: I am proud of you," Michelle Obama says, adding that the campaign is going to be "historic".

Then, Barack Obama is heard saying that he and his wife couldn't be prouder to endorse Kamala Harris, and "do everything we can to get you through this election and into the Oval Office".

The 59-year-old Vice President shared the same clip on her X account as well. "It means so much to have your endorsements, Michelle Obama and Barack Obama. Let's get to work," she posted on X.
