Philippines, U.S. start joint military drills amid South China Sea tensions

Filipino and US forces on Monday launched one of their largest joint military drills in the Philippines in recent years. The 12-day war games, involving nearly 9,000 Filipino and American soldiers, come amid rising tensions in the disputed South China Sea — which Beijing claims almost in its entirety.
