Watch: The Brexit result has made this 'Yes, Minister' clip go viral!

Looks like satirical British sitcom Yes, Minister of the 1980s had explained Britain's relation with the European Union (EU) a long time ago.

Yes, Minister, in its episode 'The Writing on The Wall', showed Permanent Secretary Sir Humphrey Appleby explain Britain's love-hate relation with the EU to Minister Jim Hacker.

In the video, he speaks about how it had been the motto for Britain to break up the whole of EU for ease of ruling. This has been Britain's aim at least for the past "500 years", he says.

""We had to break the whole thing up, so we had to get inside. We tried to break it up from the outside, but that wouldn't work. Now that we're inside we can make a complete pig's breakfast of the whole thing."

Did the EU just get served?
