The mega traffic drive continued for a third day in the city in a joint operation by the Ahmedabad police department and the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation. Around 112 notices were issued, 209 offenders were fined, 2 vehicles were towed and fine worth around Rs 36,800 collected from parking violators. 

The drive was conducted in the Zone-6 areas of the city under the supervision of Ashokkumar Yadav, Additional Commissioner of Police (Sector-2). Where around 300 policemen were deployed, including 50 men from the traffic branch. 

“Looking at the sensitive areas, we had deployed more manpower for the drive today. Fortunately, everything went smoothly. We felt a difference as before we could reach, many of them had already cleared the road and very few people were fined,” Yadav said

The eight-kilometre drive was led by Saurab Tolambiya, DCP of Zone-6 followed by two ACP level officers, six police inspectors, and other staff. The drive took place in the Vatva, Maninagar, Isnapur, Danilimda, Narol and Kagdapith areas of the city. 

“On Tuesday, we are going to take the drive to the next level with more manpower and areas which are most affected by the encroachment and parking issues will be targeted with full force. The drive will be enforced in Zones 4, 5 and 6.”
