Advocates support lok ayukta, demand withdrawal of probe

About 700 lawyers marched to Karnataka lok ayukta Santosh Hegde's office today, pledging their support to him in his probe into alleged land scams and demanded that the government withdraws the judicial probe ordered into the matter.

The lawyers' "full-fledged support" to the lok ayukta comes at a time when Hegde has strongly expressed his displeasure over the judicial probe without his prior approval, when the matter was pending before it.

"We want the lok ayukta to continue its probe into various land scams that the Yeddyurappa government is embroiled in without any interference and demand that the judicial probe be withdrawn forthwith," spokesperson of the forum, AP Ranganath told PTI.
