MS Dhoni named India's most admired sportsperson ahead of Virat Kohli, Sachin Tendulkar

MS Dhoni may have face criticism for his recent peformances for Team India, but it seems that his popularity still remains sky high. He recently was named the most admired sports personality in India. The former captain finished ahead of Virat Kohli and Sachin Tendulkar in a recent survey. 

Dhoni was actually the second most admired person in the whole country, according to the survey. Only Prime Minister Narendra Modi is ahead of him at top of the charts.

The annual survey was conducted by the website yougov.co.uk. The website conducts annual survey on world's most admired people every year. The survey was conducted earlier this year.

MS Dhoni is the only captain in the world to win the three big ICC tournaments- the World T20, Champions Trophy, and ICC World Cup. He also took India to the number 1 position in the Tests in 2009 for the first time ever.

According to the survey, while Sachin Tendulkar is ranked the sixth, the Indian captain Virat Kohli is eighth in the list of the most admired sportspersons in India. 
 
Kohli is currently leading India against in England where they will play a 5-match test series from August 1. 

According to yougov.co.uk survey, international football players Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo are also very popular in India. Former England Footballer David Beckham has also made it to the list of most admirable personalities in India.
