In its first weekend, the film managed to collect over Rs 12 crore.

Recently released Marathi movie 'Sairat' has managed to break all Marathi industry box-office record by grossing Rs 25.25 crore just in one week.
Natsamrat starring Nana Patekar that was released early this year which maintained its position of having grossed the highest box office collection at Rs 15 crore. However, Sairat that released on April 29, has already broken Natsamrat's record.
The Nana Patekar-starrer recorded over Rs 10 crore and became the biggest weekend opener. But Sairat broke its record and made Rs 12.10 crore in its first weekend. It is expected that the film will easily cross the Rs 50 crore benchmark in the next one week.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted:

The director of the film is Nagraj Manjule, whose last film was Fandry that won the National Award.
Sairat has been receiving tremendously good reviews and has been seeing houseful shows for the last 7 days. (Also read: Sairat — an epic love story cut short by hate)
The film opened to 400 cinema houses and saw 8,500 shows. But for the first time in Marathi film history, has nay film managed to get 460 cinema houses and 14,000 shows.
The forthcoming romance film follows the story of Parshya, a low-caste man and Archie, a rich daughter of an upper caste landlord, who fall in love despite pressures from society. The film stars Akash Thosa and Rinku Rajguru and is a debut release for both the actors.
