DPS student makes bomb hoax call to escape exams

A Delhi Public School (DPS) student tried to find answers to his mathematical problems in a bomb. Too petrified of appearing for his Math paper scheduled on August 12, he put two and two together and came up with an explosive solution to escape the test.

He called up his school in Bopal and told them about five bombs planted in the premises. The brilliant plan was hatched by the student and his cousin. Both the 'mathematicians' are minors.

To the student's chagrin the exams were not cancelled but the bomb solution has most likely spoiled his equation with his teachers and school.

According to Bopal police inspector BK Rana, the student, who is a minor, was to appear in his mathematics exam in the school on August 12. However, he did not want to take the exam fearing failure He had faced the music for flunking in a previous Math test.

To have his way, the young mind, along with his relative who is also a minor, hatched a plan to get the exam postponed. They made a hoax call on the school's landline number on the same day. Police said the school authorities informed Bopal police who rushed to the spot and began looking for the bomb but the Math exam was not called off.

According to Rana they traced the number from which the call was made. "It was a mobile number and we eventually traced the owner of the SIM card one Roop Singh. We also found out that Singh's son had given the SIM card to his friend, the DPS student who then made the hoax call," police said.

The Bopal police registered a non-cognizable offence after a DPS official Ishita lodged a complaint. Sources said that school authorities may not press charges against the student but he may be expelled from school.
