The Gujarat High Court's verdict acquitting 12 accused in the Haren Pandya murder case has led to political blame game in the state.

Gordhan Zadaphia, former home minister of the state, has appealed to the Modi government to re-investigate the case.
Zadaphia, who is now president of the Mahgujarat Janata Party (MJP) said it was a shame that even after eight years the government could not find out who killed one of its own ministers.

Accusing the government of double standards, he said, "The BJP made a hue and cry when Amit Shah was arrested but did not bother to properly investigate the Haren Pandya case."

Raising doubt over the investigation, Zadaphia said, "The crime branch first investigated the case and lodged a one-page complaint. The panchnama was of two pages. Telephone call details were not taken into consideration by the investigating agency."

He also said that the government did not pay heed to repeated complaints made by Pandya's father Vitthalbhai to investigate the case on the lines that it was a political murder.
