The Jammu and Kashmir government plans to set up development centres in every district of the state to promote agriculture, horticulture, floriculture, state finance minister AR Rather said today.
    
The government has constituted kissan board and skilled development centres are being set up in every district, Rather said during the pre-budget discussions with various associations of agriculture, floriculture, horticulture, sericulture, to seek their suggestions and feedback on bringing improvement in these sectors.
    
He said majority of the population in the state are involved in agriculture related sectors and its development would definitely lead to an overall development of the state.
    
Rather said agriculture, horticulture and allied sectors offer ample employment avenues and advised the young generation to setup their own units in these sectors and avail benefits of the schemes launched by the government.
    
He said there is a need to further develop these sectors and achieve self sufficiency in foodgrains, oilseed and vegetable production.
