Over 2 lakh Amarnath pilgrims pay obeisance

Over two lakh pilgrims have paid obeisance at the 3,888 metre high Amarnath cave shrine situated in south Kashmir Himalayas, officials said today.
 
"Over 2.02 lakh pilgrims have had darshan of the Ice Ligum of Lord Shiva at the Amarnath in south Kashmir Himalayas," Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB) officials said here today.
 
"The yatra is going on smoothly and there has been no untoward incident reported from anywhere during the fortnight-long pilgrimage," they said.
 
All arrangements, including security, are in place to ensure smooth yatra via twin tracks from Pahalagam-Amarnath and Baltal-Amarnath, they said.
 
Over 11,070 pilgrims are enroute the cave shrine via the two tracks from Pahalgam and Baltal, they said.
 
From Jammu base camp, a new batch of 2,672 pilgrims left this morning for twin base camps of Pahalgam and Baltal in Kashmir for their onward journey to Amarnath, an official of Police Control Room said.
 
The batch includes 1,634 men, 635 women, 324 sadhus and 79 children.
