Ville Parle man engrossed in music run over by train

The deceased, Ashok Prabhakar, had come to his Nalasopara residence after his office hours. He jumped on the tracks from the platform No3 to reach the east side. He was listening to music on his phone and did not hear the continuous honking of the Virar-bound train, said a GRP officer.

A 48-year-old resident of Ville Parle was allegedly run over by a fast train at Nalasopara late on Thursday. The man was engrossed in music and failed to hear the horn. Commuters, who witnessed the accident, alerted the government railway police (GRP).

"The deceased, Ashok Prabhakar, had come to his Nalasopara residence after his office hours. He jumped on the tracks from the platform No3 to reach the east side. He was listening to music on his phone and did not hear the continuous honking of the Virar-bound train," said a GRP officer.

"Despite putting up hoardings around station premises to avoid crossing tracks, people continue to do so," said a GRP official from Vasai, adding, "We have conducted the postmortem and handed over his body to his relatives."

A case of accidental death has been registered with Vasai GRP.
