Omkar, a resident of Landge Vasti, and his friend and fellow SSC student, Swapnil Vitthal Dhawale, 17, from Ramnagari, were admitted to the Aditya Birla Hospital in Chinchwad after the horrific car accident on Sunday.
Omkar Vasant Landge, 15, the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) student who was seriously injured with two of his friends and SSC students in a car accident on Sunday, was reported to be in a critical state by the Aditya Birla Memorial Hospital authorities on Tuesday.
Omkar, a resident of Landge Vasti, and his friend and fellow SSC student, Swapnil Vitthal Dhawale, 17, from Ramnagari, were admitted to the Aditya Birla Hospital in Chinchwad after the horrific car accident on Sunday.
The accident occurred when the speeding Toyota Corolla car being driven by one of the three boys hit a road divider before colliding into an on-coming truck on Nashik Phata Road near the Central Institute of Road Transport.
Their friend and SSC student, Shubham Thopte, who was the third occupant of the car, lost his life in the accident.
The hospital’s chief operating officer, Rekha Dubey, told DNA that Omkar will have to face multiple surgeries in the near future. She said a major surgery was carried out on Omkar on Sunday as his skull had ruptured due to the accident. He has also suffered multiple fractures of hands and legs and will have to undergo orthopaedic surgeries once his condition stabilises, Dubey said.
The third student, Swapnil, whose father owned the Toyota Corolla, escaped with minor injuries and was under observation, she said.
A student of Sant Sai High School in Bhosari, Omkar was described by his neighbours as a sincere and hard-working boy.
The Landge lane of Bhosari Gaothan where he stays is dominated by Landge families. The entire neighbourhood has been praying for his speedy recovery.
“Omkar has grown up in front of me. He belongs to a very simple, middle class family. He is very well behaved,” an anxious neighbour said.
