The Adarsh society on Tuesday moved the Bombay high court for the de-freezing of its SBI accounts to meet its legal expenses. The division bench of justices AM Khanwilkar and AR Joshi, before whom the matter was mentioned, directed it to be mentioned before the same bench headed by justice BH Marlapalle.

The society’s petition states, on January 31, the CBI wrote to SBI that they should not allow any transaction from the accounts without further instructions. Several operational and statutory expenses are incurred on a daily basis. The petition states that freezing of accounts by CBI is “illegal, arbitrary and unconstitutional.”

It has also urged, pending the disposal of a petition, for an interim order to de-freeze the bank accounts.
