It was a show of the abled indeed on World Disability Day at Bal Kalyan Sanstha on Friday, when children with different disabilities put up a wonderful presentation of dance and drama for their friends.

When a group of children presented a skit on what fun the children had during Diwali, no one present among the audience could believe that these children were hearing impaired. The clear pronunciation with perfect timing of dialogues won them a huge applause.

Similarly, the children who gave a fabulous musical performance on various instruments were an inspiration for their friends with disabilities sitting in the audience. Though some of them are suffering from major disabilities, the coordination among them led to a melodious performance.

With ‘Ramayana on Wheels’, the children proved that they are on par with normal children. The hard work of the trainers, particularly Syed Sallauddin Pasha, was evident. It was a depiction of the epic, Ramayana.

There were no dialogues and the story was conveyed merely through emotions and gestures. The make-up, costumes and dance performance added to the beauty of the show. Kids who were in the vanar sena — army of monkeys — won the hearts of the audience.

The last scene when Ravan is killed was brought alive by the perfect expressions of the artistes. The original show with 18 scenes was cut short to three scenes during the programme on Friday. The full show is scheduled on Sunday at Bal Kalyan Sanstha, from 6 pm to 7.30 pm and 8 to 9.30 pm. About 200 children from 16 institutes will take part in the show.
