Four killed in road mishap in Pune

Four persons were killed in a head-on collision between a SUV and a container truck on Pune-Solapur Highway, police said today.

All four, travelling in the Pune-bound SUV, died on the spot after their vehicle was hit by a speeding container coming from opposite direction last night near village Khadki, they said.

A crane had to pressed into service to remove the mangled SUV to clear heavy traffic on the highway which remained disrupted for over two hours.

The driver of the container fled the scene after the accident, police added.
