A three-day travel exhibition by the India International Travel Mart (IITM) is showcasing attractive holiday packages to a variety of destinations across 19 states of India and five countries, till November 29.

It is being held at Krishna Heritage, opposite Siddhi Garden, Karvenagar, from 11 am to 7.30 pm. States like Karnataka and Rajasthan have put up attractive stalls at the expo. Other participating states are Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Kerala, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Bihar, Goa, Madhya Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Puducherry, Tamil Nadu, Daman & Diu and Uttar Pradesh.

Some of the segments covered at the exhibition include pilgrimages, culture, heritage, sports and adventure.

The IITM is a premier travel and tourism exhibition brand established in 1998 by Sphere Travelmedia & Exhibitions Pvt. Ltd., and is held in Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Pune and now in Kochi. It showcases travel, tourism, hospitality, leisure and other related industries.

The exhibition in the city was inaugurated by Rashmawati Alih, vice consul (economics) in the consulate general of the Republic of Indonesia in Mumbai.

The event will see over 150 participants including travel agents, tour operators, destination management companies, hotels and resorts, cruises, airlines and online travel portals. Some of the international participants this year include, Indonesia Tourism, Switzerland Tourism, Dubai Tourism, Lanka Sportreizen and Europe Incoming among others.

There are more than 100 hotels and resorts participating in the event, making it a big congregation of hospitality products.

Speaking at the inauguration, director of Sphere Travel Media, Sanjay Hakhu said, “In spite of the present business environment, India is fast emerging as one of the most interesting and productive countries for the travel trade industry. A combination of factors is responsible for the growth and demand of travel trends from India.”
