January 7 and 8, 2006
Event: Banganga Festival: Organised by the Indian Heritage Society, Mumbai and MTDC, the Festival pays tribute to the pilgrims who found their way to this region over 2500 years ago. Besides performances by Hariprasad Chaurasia and Veena Sahasrabuddhe, there will also be guided tours between 5 and 7 pm.

January 14-27, 2006
Event: The Mumbai Festival:
A celebration of everything that is Mumbai, the 13 day festival will have food stalls, shopping, music, concerts, kite flying festivals and other events.

January 15, 2006
Event: Standard Chartered Mumbai Marathon: The third edition offers prize money of USD 210,000, with a meticulously chosen route that showcases Mumbai city in all its splendour.

February 3-9, 2006
Event: Mumbai International Film Festival: A special package of films on dance called ‘Dance with the Camera’ will also be part of the festival, in the non-competitive section.

February 4 -12, 2006
Event: Kala Ghoda Festival:
Just like last year, there are nine sections amply devoted the arts, literature, performances, food and music galore.

February 11-12, 2006
Event: Elephanta Festival: The highlights besides of course the tours of the crumbling but gorgeous remains of the caves include a shehnai programme at the Gateway and performances by artistes like Alarmel Valli, Sanjeev Abhyankar and Ananda Shankar.

Event: One Tree Music Festival. The Blues Brothers band performs in Mumbai. Need we say more?

Event: Flamingo Watch. It might not be a festival, but it’s a rare annual event. A good time to see flamingos, both the lesser as well as the greater flamingos along with several other winter migrants teeming on the Sewri mudflats, with the BNHS.
