Australian golfer Adam Scott has become the first from his country to wear the prestigious "Green Jacket" after defeating Argentine golfer Angel Cabrera in a play-off at the Augusta Masters.

Scott played a putt in the second play-off from a distance of 15 feet to win the tourney on a dark and rainy Sunday, the Daily Mirror reports

A player known for his swift swings but ugly putting figures, Scott erased the memories of his own loss to Ernie Els during the British Open. His putt also softened the disappointing memories of other Australian golfers such as Greg Norman who lost infamously in 1996 at the Masters to Augusta National, according to the report

The final tenth hole at the eighteenth green jacket saw Cabrera's putt stop at the lip of the hole while Scott reigned atop the leader board as the first Australian to slip on the green jacket, the report added.
