South African players to wear pink in Wanderers ODI against India in support of breast cancer awareness

 Cricket South Africa (CSA) has announced that the one-day international (ODI) game between South Africa and India on December 5 at the Wanderers will be set aside as a Pink Day in support of breast cancer awareness.

According to a statement released by the CSA, this initiative and fund-raising drive supports PinkDrive, an organisation committed to improving breast cancer education and awareness, and to providing preventative screening services to women across South Africa.

Sport24 reports that to show their support, the South African players will wear an all-pink outfit for this specific match, while fans wearing pink to the match can set a new record for the most people wearing a single colour, in one place in support of a specific cause.

Stating that the drive is one of the board's most important social campaigns, CSA chief executive Haroon Lorgat said that the previous PinkDrive ODI they hosted against Pakistan earlier this year was a big success, adding that they achieved their aim of raising awareness for breast cancer and raising funds for the cause.

Castle Lager, South Africa's ODI team sponsor, has also put their backing behind the Pink Day initiative, the report added.
