BCCI marketing panel meets today

The marketing committee of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will meet here on Tuesday. The meeting, the first one of the all-powerful panel in over a year, will be presided over by president Shashank Manohar.

Though the main agenda has been kept under wraps, BCCI mandarins are likely to discuss the contracts of team sponsor Sahara, Nike (kit and clothing) and media rights holder Nimbus. All three are due to expire on March 31, 2010.

The committee, it is learnt, will be inviting tenders though there are indications that Sahara and Nike’s deals could be renegotiated. The former had signed a four-year contract for over Rs400 crore in 2006 and the latter had a contract of Rs200 crore for a similar period.

The BCCI had signed the media rights with Nimbus for $612 for four years.
