Skipper Steven Gerrard has revealed the hurt of Liverpool's dismal campaign.

A dire 0-0 draw at Wolves on Tuesday leaves the Reds facing the possibility of finishing in eighth place in the Champions League, a situation that could leave them struggling to keep Spanish superstar Fernando Torres.

"There are a lot of people in the dressing room who are hurt at seeing us lying in seventh and eighth position, and you learn a lot from these situations when times are hard. We came into the game trying and expecting to get three points but it was a difficult one to play in,” The Sun quoted Gerrard, as saying.

"We're pleased with the way we have dug in and fought but we're disappointed we did not create more in the final third,” he added.

He added: "We believe we've turned the corner. We've got two home games coming up and if we can take maximum points, we'll be closer to where we want to be. The most important thing for me has been the character and desire players have shown.”
