BJP president Amit Shah will be in the city for two days starting tomorrow, his first after being elected to Lok Sabha. Shah, now also the Union Home Minister will meet the workers of the party and inaugurate some of the public works in the city.

Shah will inaugurate the overbridge near Income Tax circle. He will also inaugurate DK Patel Community Hall and a library in Naranpura. The main program will be held at GMDC Auditorium where he will address workers and office bearers of the party.

"This is the first visit of party president Amit Shah after his election to the Lok Sabha. There is tremendous excitement among the workers regarding his visit. Party workers will felicitate him at various places," said Vaghani. At the function at Dinesh Hall, Shah will be accompanied by Chief Minister Vijay Rupani, deputy chief minister Nitin Patel, office bearers of the party, ministers, corporators of Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation and other workers of the party. Shah had won by a margin of over 5.5 lakh votes from Gandhinagar Lok Sabha constituency, while BJP had won 303 seats in the lower house of the Parliament.

On July 4, Shah will perform Mangala Aarti at Jagannath Temple and then leave for New Delhi.

Foreign Minister S Jaishankar will also visit Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar on July 4. Elections for two seats of Rajya Sabha will be held on July 5. Jaishankar is contesting as a candidate of BJP. Jugal Thakor is another candidate of the party. Congress has fielded Chandrika Chudasama and Gaurav Pandya for Rajya Sabha seats.
