Citroen Basalt unveiled as Tata Curvv rival ahead of launch: Price, features and more

French automaker Citroen has released new images of its production-spec Basalt, a model that shares its platform with the C3, C3 Aircross, and the e-C3. Despite this common foundation, the Basalt boasts a distinctive design.

The standout feature of the Citroen Basalt is its rear end, characterized by a sharp roofline that seamlessly merges into the bootlid, creating an SUV-Coupe aesthetic. This design sets it apart as there are currently no mass-market SUV-coupe models available in India. The front end bears resemblance to the C3 Aircross, with subtle modifications to differentiate it from its siblings. Unlike the concept images previously shared, the production-spec Basalt features smaller alloy wheels.

The taillamps draw inspiration from other Citroen models but are wider and have a wraparound appearance. The integrated bootlid and rear windshield offer a large access area to the boot.

Although the interiors of the Citroen Basalt are still under wraps, it is expected to mirror the layout of the C3 Aircross. Anticipated features include a large infotainment display with wireless smartphone mirroring, a digital instrument cluster, and automatic climate control.

Under the hood, the Citroen Basalt will house the same 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine that powers the C3 Aircross. This engine delivers 110bhp and 205Nm of torque and will be paired with both a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter.

Pricing for the Citroen Basalt is likely to be in the same range as the C3 Aircross, though with a premium. It is expected to cost between Rs 10 to 15 lakh (ex-showroom).
