eBike Go to electrify 10% of Rapido's motorcycle taxis to cut carbon emissions

eBike Go, India's leading electric two-wheeler rental platform, will electrify Bengaluru-based Motorcycle taxi firm Rapido's 10% of the upcoming fleet of their petrol vehicles within a year.

eBike Go has raised $300,000 as part of its recent funding round led by Startup Buddy, the company said in a press release.  

Also, Rapido has raised Rs 390 crore of fresh investment and currently has 1,15,000 vehicles on the road. 

The current of these two companies is meant to "provide an eco-friendly and economical transportation solution to the nation."

Earlier in a statement, the startup eBike Go had said it was now expanding to four other cities Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Pune while the demand for its services is increasing in cities they are already in. eBikeGo also hopes to expand its network to include Chennai, Kochi and Kolkata in the near future.

The founder, Irfan Khan, saw an opportunity for reducing 2w emissions and raised some capital from friends and family to start this company in Amritsar.

 After an excellent initial response, the company expanded to four cities in two years and is planning to expand in 8 cities in the third year.

eBike Go is also working with different delivery companies to convert their fleet into electric and has successfully provided fleet solution to companies like Zomato, Delhivery, Ferns & Petals, Gostops etc.

"eBike Go has grown from 640 users in 2017 to 18 thousand users in 2019 and estimates a million users by 2020. eBike Go hopes to capture 5 percent of the commercial two-wheeler market by 2021," a press release stated.
