Fans honour Vishnuvardhan with a film festival

Fans thronged the venue of Simhavalokana film festival organised by the late Kannada actor Vishnuvardhan’s family members to celebrate his 60th birth anniversary.

Twelve of his movies are being screened in the three-day film festival, which began on Friday.

“Vishnuvardhan was a great actor with a good heart and soul. I consider him as my guru,” said N Satyanarayana, a 26-year-old marketing professional. He came to Friday’s screening dressed like the late actor. “I consider myself the biggest fan of Sahasasimha,” he said.

However, Sarvana, who has seen almost all Vishnuvardhan’s 200 movies, refused to agree with him. Sarvana said he was the biggest fan of the actor. “I have watched all his movies. I was so involved in the birth anniversary celebrations that I have not gone to work for the past few days,” he said.

A group of fans has designed a clock with the actor’s pictures engraved on it. “The clock will have a lion’s figure in the centre. Surrounding the numbers in the clock are miniature figures of the actor. We have made 100 clocks and they will be given away at the blood donation camp to be held late on Friday,” said Sarvana.

Another Vishnuvardhan fan, Prasad, is planning to bring out a CD detailing the actor’s life. “I am hoping to finish the work by early next year. I have just completed his school life,” he said.

Keerthi, Vishnuvardhan’s daughter, who was present at the event, has put together a collage of the late actor to show her fondness to her father.  “These are small ways in which we can show our love for him,” she said.
