The world comes to the campus in Bangalore

To infuse the global spirit in their students, many colleges have embraced international themes for their fests this season.

The organisers of Euro Tag- 2010, the annual Indo-European event at Christ University, consider it as an opportunity to experience Europe in one day. The fest will be held on February 8 and 9. “It will be a platform to experience the culture of Europe,” said Deepika Pillai, a second-year MBA student of the university.

“The events will reflect the culture of the area and will be helpful for the globetrotters on our campus. The competitions like Euro Gyaan (quiz competition) are based on the core theme,” she said.
The unconventional format of events, ambience, and tenacity is aimed at providing more knowledge of foreign cultures, the managements say.

The Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) started celebrating International Students’ Day much before others. The highlight of its celebrations this year were the performances by members of the Federation of International Student Associations, Bangalore, (FISA-B). The event was held in association with Jain Group of Institutes on Friday.

Students from Fiji Islands, Maldives, Sri Lanka,  Bhutan,  Rwanda, Ivory Coast, Tanzania, and Yemen performed at the event.
“These programmes will bring students from diverse cultures and nationalities on to the same platform. It will promote the growth of the city as an education hub,” Santhosh MS, joint registrar of Jain University, said.

Footprints, the annual cultural fest of St Joseph’s College of Arts and Science, will showcase cultures of the North East and Tibet on Saturday. “There are numerous students from Tibet and North East in our college. We want our students to be enriched by the experience,” Fr Ambrose Pinto, principal of the college, said.
