Born and brought up in Delhi, Lehar Khan wasn't sure if she ever wanted to make a career in films. Being an intelligent student, Lehar wanted to be an animal scientist, and she was also good at dance, stage performance, and sports. After completing her CBSC from Delhi, Lehar shifted to Mumbai and completed her college graduation in filmmaking. 

Lehar is an ace dancer, and she has also participated in various reality shows such as Boogie Woogie and Dance India Dance. Finally, Lehar won the dance reality show Kids Dhoom, and this boosted her confidence. 

When Lehar was 11 years old, she acted in a short film Destiny. Later, Lehar got her first film Jalpari: The Desert Mermaid (2012). After the movie was released, Lehar become the most-popular child of her school in Delhi. However, till then Lehar wasn't keen to become an actress. Then, Lehar bagged a role in Parched (2015), and that was when she realised that acting is her true calling. 

When Lehar shared her dream of acting with her parents, they took the tough decision of shifting to Mumbai. Lehar's father had a business venture in Delhi. To assure a smooth operation of business, he decided to let go of Lehar with his mother to Mumbai. This is the reason why Lehar did her college in Mumbai, and she graduated in filmmaking from Usha Gandhi Pravin College.

After Parched, Lehar signed Brahmastra: Part One: Shiva during her college. Lehar shared screen space with Amitabh Bachchan, Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt. However, even after she completed college, the movie was not released. After Brahmastra, Lehar managed to bag the series Dahan: Raakan Ka Rahasya, but during the shoot, something in her got broken.

In 2021, Coronavirus was at its peak. During the second wave of Covid, Lehar lost her biggest support- her father. While Lehar was shooting for Dahan in Rajasthan, her parents went to see her grandmother in Lucknow. The actress' parents got stuck and they got affected by Covid, and sadly, her father couldn't survive it. 

Throughout her journey, Lehar's father always supported her, and she used to discuss everything about films and movie stars with him. The demise of Lehar's father left her heartbroken, she started feeling demotivated towards work. Lehar's father couldn't watch Brahmastra with her as well, and this affected her confidence further. 

Two months after her father's demise, Lehar got a call from Mukesh Chabbra, and she was informed about her selection in Jawan. Although Lehar always wanted to work with SRK, but there was a moment, when she almost decided to reject the film. "The biggest person in my life, who always supported me, isn't there anymore. Why should I continue doing films?" Lehar thought. The actress felt the absence of an emotional attachment in her work.

However, after a few days and discussions with her mom, Lehar decided that she will end her sabbatical and bounce back to work. The actress said, "I am working for him, thinking that he's around. Papa loved cinema and movie stars, so I will continue doing films, hoping that he's looking at me and blessing me." Lehar is now more focused to do good roles, to make her father proud. 

Lehar Khan is fond of writing and directing, and she has some interesting ideas planned for kids-friendly shows. Lehar is looking to collaborate with like-minded people. Lehar is also an expert in animation and she creates stop-motion videos. Lehar dreams to open an animation studio and to grow kids-friendly genres in India. Jawan is released in cinemas on September 7.
