Republic Day 2021: 'Rang De Basanti', 'Agneepath' - Bollywood movies released on January 26 over the years

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, no movies have been released during Republic Day weekend this year.

Republic Day 2021 is upon us and every year on and around January 26, several filmmakers release their big movies. However, this year, movie lovers can't catch a new movie at the theatre during the same week due to the coronavirus pandemic. Over the years, several films hit the big screens on Republic Day. Some proved to be blockbusters while others were a box office debacle.

Movies namely Agneepath, Bandit Queen, English Babu Desi Mem, Parzania, Rang De Basanti, Salaam-E-Ishq, Vijeta and many others released on the big screen on the occasion of Republic Day.

Directed by Karan Malhotra, the film is the reboot of the 1990 film of the same name starring Amitabh Bachchan in the lead role. The 2012 release stars Hrithik Roshan, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Sanjay Dutt and late Rishi Kapoor in the lead roles.

The film won National Film Award for Best Popular Film.
