Khayyam passed away on Monday after his fight with lung infection
Music composer Mohammed Zahur Khayyam Hashmi aka Khayyam passed away at the age of 92. On Monday, ANI confirmed that the veteran composer has left for the heavenly abode. He was fighting lung infection since being admitted on August 15.
Khayyam's most known works are Rekha starrer Umrao Jaan and Amitabh Bachchan-Rakhee starrer Kabhie Kabhie. He has worked in cinema for over four decades and was active till 2010, post which he received Lifetime Achievement Award.
Right from Rekha's 'Dil Cheez Kya Hai' from Umrao Jaan to 'Chori Chori Koi Aaye' featuring late Farooq and Poonam Dhillon in Noorie, late music director Khayyam created magic with some songs which have become iconic today.
