'Sadak 2': Timeline of events ahead of Alia Bhatt, Pooja Bhatt, Mahesh Bhatt's film release

In less than 24 hours since its release, the trailer of Mahesh Bhatt's 'Sadak 2' received over 4.4 million dislikes on YouTube. The trailer, featuring Sanjay Dutt, Alia Bhatt, Pooja Bhatt, Aditya Roy Kapur, and Makarand Deshpande, was almost immediately rejected by netizens stating 'nepotism'. 'Sadak 2' trailer had 3.5 million+ views, and the dislikes on it were 1.9 million which is 19 lakh, by 5.30 pm on August 12, 2020, which was just a few hours after the trailer was unveiled. Currently, the trailer, which is trending on the video platform, has more dislikes than likes, making it probably the 'most disliked trailer' on the internet.

The trailer of 'Sadak 2' featuring Sanjay Dutt, Alia Bhatt, Pooja Bhatt, Aditya Roy Kapur, and Makarand Deshpande released on August 12, 2020, but was instantly rejected. Both Mahesh Bhatt and Alia Bhatt had reverted back with cryptic messages back then. Even actor Pooja Bhatt, who was part of 'Sadak' and is now seen in a cameo in 'Sadak 2', received backlash for her surname. Pooja too had responded to the hate. In fact she has once again gone ahead and responded to the dislikes received towards 'Sadak 2' trailer. Taking to Twitter, she wrote, "Hate.Debate.Malign.Lie. Boy’coot’. Scoot. Unfriend.Trend. Over the top? Why not? Gotta do what it takes to be host with the most with a hot bot!"

After Mahesh Bhatt and Rhea Chakraborty's WhatsApp chats were leaked on the Internet, Soni Razdan and Pooja Bhatt defended the filmmaker. A while back, Pooja took to her Twitter page and slammed a report in which they showed 'explosive' chats between Mahesh and Rhea. It looked like a forwarded message which Pooja confirmed. She tweeted, "Interestingly, the message refers to as ‘most explosive revelation’ is a message that my father also sent me & countless other people on his phone list on the same day (June 9) & subsequently posted on Twitter as well (26-6-2020) get your facts right."

The film landed itself in another controversy for reportedly withholding singer Arijit Singh’s tracks, which the latter had recorded for the film. Music composer and singer Amaal Malik too had come out in support of the singer on micro-blogging site Twitter. Responding to a Twitter user, Amaal wrote that the songs at least deserve a release. He wrote, "I think the song deserves to at least get a release! Constantly hurting the fans will lead to nothing but just more disbelief in the music industry. At least put out the version if you can. #ReleaseArijitSongFromSadak2 (sic)."

Ahead of the release of Mahesh Bhatt directed film Sadak 2 on streaming platform Disney+Hotstar, starring actress Alia Bhatt, Pooja Bhatt, Sanjay Dutt, and Aditya Roy Kapoor, the makers of the film have released a reprised version of the song 'Tum Se Hi' on YouTube, sung by the Udta Punjab actor. The original version of the track, which has been sung by Ankit Tiwari and Leena Bose, was much liked by fans for its fantastic music and lyrics. The reprised version which has been sung by Alia also seems to be garnering a lot of attention by social media users.
