Today we will discuss the late actor who was once considered the next big thing in Bollywood. In one of his 70s films, Amitabh Bachchan played a villain. Soon this hero became a supporting actor, and his personal life also dented his career.

Navin started his career with the Hindi film Sawan Bhadon (1970). He starred in several superhit movies such as Victoria No. 203 (1972), Dhund (1973) and Hanste Zakhm (1973).

Navin later got married to divorcee Geentanjali. However, on April 22, 2006, Geetanjali died by suicide. She hung herself, and left a suicide note, claiming that Navin 'harassed' her and she was 'mentally tortured' by him. She also wrote that Navin's brother Pravin 'instigated' him to trouble her. Thus, she decided to end her life.
Navin was charged with abetment to his wife's suicide. Nischol and his brother Pravin were remanded to police custody till May 6, 2006, by a local court. As India Today reported, Nischol's lawyer Satish Maneshinde claimed that Geetanjali suffered from depression and that she herself had a drinking problem.

On March 19, 2011, Navin passed away due to a heart attack while travelling to Pune from Mumbai. He is survived by two daughters, Natasha and Nomita from his first marriage. Some of his popular films as a supporting lead were Desh Premee, Zulm Ki Hukumat, Raju Ban Gaya Gentleman, Mahaul Theek Hai, Aashiq Banaya Aapne, and Khosla Ka Ghosla. His performance in hit series Dekh Bhai Dekh was also appreciated by the audience.
