As per the media reports, Sridevi was unhappy with the final cut. The late actress felt she had little to no role in the multi-starrer. After Karma, Sridevi decided not to do multi-starrers.

Made in the reported budget of Rs 2.65 crores, the film grossed Rs 13 crores, making it the top grosser of the year. Karma was Dilip and Subhash's second collab after Vidhaata. After Karma, they reunited for Saudagar.
