Aamir, Shah Rukh Khan's loss is Vicky Kaushal's gain! 'Uri' star likely to play Rakesh Sharma in 'Saare Jahaan Se Achha'

The Rakesh Sharma biopic - 'Saare Jahaan Se Achha' has been in the news ever since it was announced. After Aamir Khan, who was the original choice for the part, walked out of the film, Shah Rukh Khan excitedly took up the project. 

However Zero's failure at the box office seemed to change SRK's mind about playing an astronaut. DNA was the first one to report that the actor has opted out of the film. The reason for the same was never revealed but 'Don 3' may have a part to play. 

Now Bollywood Hungama reports that the makers of Rakesh Sharma biopic have approached Vicky Kaushal to step into Khan's shoes. Although there's no official confirmation on the same, the report sugests that the makers are convinced that the 'URI' star will do full justice to the role.

Earlier when 'Saare Jahaan Se Achcha' writer Anjum Rajabali was asked about SRK's withdrawal from the film, he had rubbished the rumours by calling them fake. But if latest reports are anything to go by then it seems the makers are indeed looking for replacement. 

Interestingly, Aamir Khan was initially committed to doing the biopic and Priyanka Chopra Jonas was signed up as his leading lady. But the 'Thugs Of Hindostan' actor opted out citing another ambitious project in the making. 

Moreover, he had even suggested Shah Rukh to do the film. “Shah, you should hear the script, it is fantastic. It will be right for you, if you like it,” he had reportedly told the Zero actor. Aamir had apparently even shared his research material with Shah Rukh.

Much later, after SRK had confirmed doing the movie, he had been quoted as saying, “I thank Aamir, who was to do the film for calling me and telling me about the role as it would suit me. I will try and spend time with Rakesh Sharma.”
