Amidst protests to stop racism (#BlackLivesMatter movement, which arose after George Floyd's demise), Diet Prada pointed out another case of racism. The incident involved Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone, who the fashion watchdog claimed had been used as a 'prop' in a recent photoshoot.

Calling the April 2019 Vogue photoshoot featuring Deepika Padukone, as 'American Vogue's most problematic moments', Diet Prada highlighted how the actress was used as a 'prop' and whites gained the centre of attention. The photoshoot also involved 'Black Widow' actress Scarlett Johansson.

The fashion watchdog wrote, "In celebration of global talent, the issue cham-pioned "the new center, which is everywhere and nowhere at once." Despite Vogue's intentions, it was glaringly obvious that in this new center, white women were still at its center. Actresses of color like Adesua Etomi and Deepika Padukone were pushed to the side, serving more as props for white ac-tresses like Scarlett Johansson and Vanessa Kirby."

Diet Prada also called out the magazine cover of April 2008 featuring basketball genius Lebron James, who happened to be the first black man on the cover. Instantly, people noticed similarilties between the cover and 1917 America war propaganda poster 'Destroy This Mad Brute'.
